Witness: Striker was the squadron leader. He brought us in real low. But he couldn't handle it.
Prosecutor: Buddy couldn't handle it. Was Buddy one of your crew?
Witness: Right. Buddy was the bombardier. But it was Striker who couldn't handle it, and he went to pieces.
Procesutor: Andy went to pieces?
Witness: No. Andy was the navigator. He was all right. Buddy went to pieces. It was awful how he came unglued.
Prosecutor: Howie came unglued?
Witness: Oh, no. Howie was a rock, the best tailgunner in the outfit. Buddy came unglued.
Prosecutor: And he bailed out?
Witness: No. Andy hung tough. Buddy bailed out. How he survived, it was a miracle.
Prosecutor: Then Howie survived?
Witness: No, 'fraid not. We lost Howie the next day.
Prosecutor: Over Macho Grande?
Witness: No. I don't think I'll ever get over Macho Grande.

I didn't feel like dressing up this year. So when I went out, i simply wore my North Side Kings t-shirt. When asked "what are you dressed up as? A Walter?"
I replied "i'm the guy that knocked out Glen Danzig"

Mastodon & Dethklok
Oct. 30th, 2009 | 03:29 pm
Went to see Mastodon & Dethklok last night @ Hammerstein Ballroom.
Missed High On Fire, which i didn't mind cuz i don't like them. Converge was good, but 90% of the room had no idea who they were, so it kinda just went right over their heads, tho people were getting into it. Mastodon was RIDICULOUS. So fuckin good. Dethklok was good, but I only stayed for a few songs cuz I'm not that familiar with their stuff, as i only got both albums last week. Next time.

Bacon <3
Oct. 20th, 2009 | 12:34 pm
We had bacon explosions at Herpes' house last week. It was mighty tasty. I took a picture. BTW, for the uninitiated, it's sausage and bacon, wrapped in bacon. It's every bit as delish as it sounds.
Ray FBC had the best comment ever:
sign me up... if i was in ghostbusters and Zuul asked me to chose the great destructor it would have to be a mammoth sized slab of bacon.

Inhuman
Oct. 6th, 2009 | 10:30 am
Mike Scondotto emailed me last week. Nick, our original drummer, had been back for about a year, on guitar. He quit 2 weeks ago. Joe is going to be on tour with Agnostic Front in November. Mike asked me if I could fill in on guitar for them. I said sure. It'll be fun. I haven't played with Inhuman in 9 years. First rehearsal is Thursday night. Will be interesting to say the least. Gotta learn a bunch of stuff from the 2 records they put out after I left.
So far the 2 shows are 11/28 in Albany and 11/14 in PA. Everything's Ruined is taking a few months off to work on new music, so if Inhuman want to do some more shows, I'd be up for it.
That's all I really have to say. Everything else has been the usual. Hate work, go home, don't do much, rehearse, drink to excess on the weekends.

VIDEO from my referee class!
Sep. 13th, 2009 | 02:14 am
WHOOO!!!
If you, Constant Reader, may remember, your Humble Narrator took a MMA referee course with Big John McCarthy back in April. There's a show on HDNet called Inside MMA. They came and were filming for a segment on John's referee class for the show. I just stumbled across the video on Sherdog.com.
At the beginning of the segment, there's a dude with a goatee talking about John's class. In the background, there's a fight going on inside the cage. Who should happen to be the one refereeing?
Your Humble Narrator himself! yay!
God DAMN i need to get back out there and pass that fucking class!

Rest in peace, John Costello.
I'm going to miss you immensely. You were the best dude ever.
Thank you for making my best friend the happiest I've ever seen her.

Walter just took the "What movie should you be in, and as what character?" quiz and the result is The Big Lebowski - Walter Sobchak.
You are a veteran of the Vietnam war, and you aren't standing for anyone's shit. Watching your buddies die face down in the muck has turned your fuse into a short one, and you could blow at any minute.

Walter completed the quiz "Which book of the Bible are you?" with the result Ecclesiastes.
You're a hardheaded realist burned once too often by the flaws of others and the emptiness of what society calls "success." Your wisdom come...s from the school of hard knocks, which makes you a great advisor. You can't stand fake sunniness and social climbing; you're true, even if you're a little blue. Your eyes are clear, so without denying the reality of evil, make sure you also look at the goodness that's taking place around you.
so true

weekend recap in semi-incoherent rambling form
Jul. 6th, 2009 | 02:45 pm
too tired to go into it again, so i just copied and pasted my email to a friend from this morning...
Dude…I am so tired right now. I got in a few minutes ago cuz I “overslept” after going to sleep at 3 in the morning,.
Friday, got a call from my guitarist’s girlfriend that he had a SEIZURE while they were in Chicago. They were there for a wedding. He’s in the hospital, and he also has his car packed with our GEAR because he was going to meet us in West Virginia on Saturday. So obviously he can’t drive and his girlfriend doesn’t drive. I ended up booking a last second flight for Chicago for the next morning. I flew out to Chicago, got there 1130 Chicago time (an hour behind NY), then immediately jumped in and drove to West Virginia…8 and a half hour drive! FINALLY got to the show. Played, had a great time. Fireworks show on the river. A guy in front of the club pulls out a gun and just starts shooting into the air. He got arrested. Drank a ton. Didn’t load out of the club until almost 4 in the morning. Passed out at around 430 (the hotel was literally 2 blocks away.) My bassist made the observation to me the next morning that apparently BEEP in my sleep. There’s no possible way to describe it via typable words, I have to demonstrate it for you over the phone at some point. 5 hour drive to yesterday’s show in Reading PA. it was alright. Nothing to write home about but still fun. Left pretty much the moment Full Blown Chaos finished. My drummer and bassist wanted to stop to eat but I wanted to get back to NY as soon as possible. So I left, got back to our studio, unloaded the stuff I had in my car…then realized that there’s only one security key to get in after hours and I had it. So I had to wait an extra hour for them to finally get there, the moment they got there, I let them in and left.

I forgot i had my umbrella with me when I left the house this morning. It was leaning against the passenger seat. I made a turn and the umbrella shifted positions. I forgot it was there and thought a small animal had gotten into the car somehow. It scared the shit outta me and I almost drove off the road.
Imagine my having to explain that to a cop if he saw me swerve this morning and decided to pull me over.

been in a mood and a half the last few days. yes there's a reason, there always is. no i'm not gonna talk about it. it'll pass in time. always does.
in the meantime i just feel like pulling back and disappearing into my cave, not dealing with humans at all for a bit. kinda hard, being the front man of a band and such. next show is in a few weeks tho, so i got a bit of time to shake off this mood of mine.
speaking of which, been getting more comfortable singing/guitaring, being a frontman. played at red star bar in polackpoint brooklyn on Friday. ended up being a lot of fun. we were the only band that drew anyone. had the extra super pleasant surprise of my old inhuman drummer (and now their 2nd guitarist) nick making an appearance. i didn't see him til after we were done, but he said he got there just as we were starting. i was having fun at the show tho, the one nice part about the weekend. i may just turn into the fat mike of metal onstage.
saturday went to my friend nicole's birthday party in larchmont. i even dressed like something resembling human. that was a nice night.
made a very brief appearance yesterday at the bxug thing at orchard beach. i don't even know why i went. i wasn't in the mood to see anyone, barely talked to anyone and basically paid the $8 parking fee just to be there for an hour. i caught the last song of millsted, then the skies opened up and put a stop to the show. no bueno. went to eat japanese food with my mom and brother for father's day afterwards.

i don't have much to say. Not in the best of spirits. Highlights over the last couple of weeks include helping my old friend Eddie film his movie (and i had a bit part as a bar patron...big stretch for me), going to a couple of shows, drinking with Krissy, Revolution, What's Your Problem Brian reunion. Some other things that i don't quite remember by now.
Yesterday was one year since my dad passed away. I'm sure that's part of it, but there's more.
Of course, I keep my poker face strong.
Everything is fine, everything is fine.
Nothing more to see here...
